HEALTHCARE.
DEFINITION.
Today, nearly 19,000 children under age 5 will die of mostly preventable causes, such as diarrhea, malaria, and pneumonia. INSAN focuses on child and maternal health, using basic medicines, supplies, and interventions to prevent and treat illnesses at the community level.
Hunger is a problem that affects everything for the world’s poorest people. It prevents children’s brains from developing fully, causes physical stunting and inhibits their immune systems.
INSAN believes that good health and access to healthcare are fundamental human rights. The overall goal of INSAN healthcare project is to improve the health of the world’s poorest people, improve the response to emergencies, help to prevent diseases, and ensure that they have access to healthy food.
Healthcare Project: Vaccination
This year, we are very much fortunate to be able to start our pioneer project under Healthcare, and that is, the immunization or the vaccination project for Yemeni children staying in Malaysia, mostly in the Kuala Lumpur (Setapak and Gombak areas), Serdang, Kajang, Shah Alam, and Bangi areas in the Selangor state of West Malaysia.
Under this project, sponsored by Maybank Islamic, 140 Yemeni children are going to be vaccinated against some common diseases, and the first batch of the vaccination session already started in March, and that the program is expected be completed by July this year. We are indeed very lucky to have with us a healthcare-based humanitarian organization, Mercy Malaysia who will be carrying out the vaccination process. The total cost of this vaccination project is RM56,000.

Access to General Healthcare Projects
Access to quality healthcare is almost unheard of for millions around the world, and the following facts tell its all:
- More than 9 MILLION children still die each year before they reach their fifth birthday
- Over 270 million have no access to health services
- At least 2.2 million die each year because they are not immunized
- Over 500,000 Yemeni children face severe mulnitrition (UNICEF)
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as Medicare or any form of healthcare insurances in the developing world, particularly in the war-torn countries like Yemen, Syria and Somalia. Our “Access to General Healthcare Projects” will avail the opportunity to provide vaccinations, vitamins, medicines, hospital beds and even ambulances for those in desperate need of it.
