Objectives of HELP YEMEN Relief Campaign:
- To provide basic needs and necessities for lives of conflict victims and displaced families in Yemen.
- To effectively alleviate the negative and psychological effects of conflict on internally displaced people (IDP).
- To stand with the war victims and help them to overcome the sufferings caused by the war.

Overview of the Situation in Yemen
The humanitarian crisis has deteriorated in Yemen since March 2015. According to International Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) statistics, about 80% of the population, estimated at 21.8 million people, need humanitarian intervention, including 11.3 million people are in an urgent need of aids.
Long years of interior conflict and poverty raises the needy people rate to 80% of the population. Most of the public facilities, such as hospitals, schools, and water networks, in the conflict areas were either completely or partially destroyed. Moreover, shortage of imported commodities caused food prices to soar, and most of the families are now in need of basic necessities to survive.
Basic services in Yemen are about to collapse and millions of citizens are not able to get access to clean water and electricity supply. The health sector has also been affected badly and some deadly infectious diseases including dengue fever and malaria have spread widely, and therefore, there is an urgent need to medical intervention and medicinal supplies.
The ongoing conflict forced millions of Yemenis to flee their homes and provinces and relocate to safer and more stable provinces while hundreds of thousands managed to leave the country and move to different countries. The huge number of internally displaced people (IDPs) created additional burden on the local NGOs and authorities.

Background of The Project:
As a result of conflict escalation, the number of displaced people in Yemen has increased rapidly. According to UNICEF 2020 report, 4.4 million Yemenis were internally displaced including 1.71 million children up until the end of 2020, more than 100,000 of them left their home for a safe destination in the first half of 2020. These internally displaced people are usually susceptible to various disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and socio-political and economic problems. They also lack the access to health and educational facilities or even clean drinking water. According to Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) malnutrition report prepared by OCHA in Yemen, the number of affected people is more likely to increase in the first six months of 2021, when 16.2 million (54% of the population) are expected to experience acute levels of food insecurity – 11 million at crisis level (IPC Phase 3), 5 million at emergency level (IPC Phase 4) and 47,000 at catastrophic level (IPC Phase 5) in famine-like conditions.
Project Description:
The project will distribute non-food items namely tents, mattresses, blankets, pillows and water container for IDPs and host community.
Project Justification:
- IDPs and affected families are in urgent need of basic shelter items.
- Shortage of shelter and houses in the regions that host the displaced families as well as high cost of house rental in these regions make the situation a lot worse.
Project Objective:
To alleviate the sufferings of families affected by the war in Yemen.
Specific Objective:
To distribute food stuffs to IDPs for one month.
Target Group:
Families affected by the war in Yemen.
Implementation Steps:
- Listing down the target beneficiaries in coordination with the working authorities on the ground.
- Delivering of the items to the distribution points.
- Distributing of the non-food, food stuffs and medicines to the beneficiaries.
- Documentation process (taking photos and videos).
- Endorsing the beneficiaries’ statements
Project Impact:
- Providing the basic livelihood needs for the IDPs.
- Contributing to alleviate the suffering of the IDPs.
Media Coverage:
- Banners and banting.
- Photo documentation of all stages of the project.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Field Visits.
- Reviewing and approving the beneficiary lists.
Project Duration:
- One month from the approval date of the project.
