SHELTER.
DEFINITION.
Since 2015, nearly 15 percent of the entire population (in Yemen), 4.3 million people, have been forced to flee their home; 3.3 million people are still displaced. Nearly one-third of all Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) live in the district across the country with the highest convergence of complex, and multi-dimensional problems. Many from this IDPs, for instance, are sleeping in the open with no protection against winter conditions. Safe shelters, essential aid items, emergency health care, clean water and safe sanitation are among the other urgent and critical needs of the displaced community.
INSAN has delivered winter blankets last year (2019) to the IDPs in and around Sanaa city, Yemen. This project benefited over 1,500 IDPs. Efforts are on-going to provide more helps to the IDPs in Yemen, this includes supplying them with winterization kits and non-food items (NFIs) and tents.
SHELTER PROJECTS.
From the beginning of conflict, IDPs (in Yemen) have lived under extremely difficult circumstances, and their situation is so bad that they are willing to risk their lives and return to their homes despite the insecurity there. They live in schools, but face constant pressure from the host communities to vacate them. The influx of IDPs has put tremendous strain on the already weak services. It has also burdened the host families who are themselves very poor. IDPs also face protection issues.
INSAN has delivered winter blankets last year (2019) to the IDPs in and around Sanaa city, Yemen. This project benefited over 1,500 IDPs with total cost reaching RM36,868.50. Efforts are on-going to provide more helps to the IDPs in Yemen, this includes supplying them with winterization kits and non-food items (NFIs), rental subsidies and tents.
